Why bats can’t just be trapped or sprayed
Bats are beneficial, protected animals — and handling them the wrong way is both harmful and against Florida law.
Guano & odor

All bat species in Florida are protected. It is illegal to kill or harm them, and exclusions must follow state rules on timing and method.

Bats return to the same roost season after season. Without proper exclusion and sealing, the colony re-establishes itself every year.
Timing isn’t optional — it’s the law.
Under Florida wildlife rules, bats cannot be excluded during maternity season — April 16 through August 14 — when flightless pups are in the roost and would be trapped and die inside. Outside that window, exclusion must still be done humanely with one-way devices that let bats out but not back in. We plan every job around these rules so it’s done legally and correctly.
